Phoonk Movie review - foonk

Ramu is back and how!!!! Tremendous potential that the director holds inside him is easily reflected in this flick of his. The subject of the film is basically related to superstitions and was considered to be the scariest movie by the director till date by the crew embers. Though the film is not dead scary, but it builds a connect with your inner conscience that slightly believes in some of the higher powers.

The actors and the characters played by them are:
  • Baby Ahsaas Channa as the kid
  • Sudeep as Rajiv, an engineer
  • Amruta Khanvilkar as the mother
  • Zakir Hussain as tantric
  • K.K. Raina and Lilette Dubey as doctors

The basic belief being portrayed in the flick is black magic which is beautifully handled by the director and marvelously executed by the actors. The biggest USP of Ramu has to be his unexpected and surprising end to his movies which goes quite well in this one as well.Though some might not feel it is justified but in my opinion it was plausible.

All in all, a great flick and a must watch.

My rating: 3.5/5

Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam: Movie Review

Looks like Mallika Sherawat’s tryst with Bollywood is going all topsy turvy. First the disastrous Ugly aur Pugly and now the unbearable Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam, its time the sultry damsel thinks before signing on the dotted line.

Mallika plays the character of Shabnam who is an actress in a Goan drama company. She enacts the role of Madhubala on stage every day and is an aspiring actress who dreams of taking up the place of Jaya Bachchan. His husband, being played by Paresh Rawal, is an oldie, who plays his father in law, Akbar in the daily stage shows. Then enters Arjun, played by Rahul Bose, who falls in love with the staged Madhubala and there comes an item song.

The story continues to reveal that Rahul is a police agent in disguise who wants to team up with the drama company to catch an ISI agent, played by Kay Kay Menon. He is hiding from every one by posing in the disguise of a singer. And the senseless movie continues there after. There is only one thing that hits my mind after watching the film…..Awful!!!!

My stars: 1.5/5

God Tussi Great Ho: Movie Review

With the passing weeks, and movies coming and going, failing to make their mark at the box office, this week’s two releases were both an average do for the movie buffs. On side was the hunky new dude Ranbir Kapoor’s Bachna Ae Haseeno while on the other hand was the remake of the Hollywood’s most loved flick Bruce Almighty under the name of God Tussi Great Ho.

Directed by Rumi Jaffery, the qoriginal character of Salman Khan was played by Jim Carey in the Hollywood version. This was the biggest pot hole for those who have seen the original one. Be Salman a great comedy actor, but whatever, he cannot beat Jim in his facial expressions and the way he potrays the character. And hence the movie is just about okay. Fine for watching once, the movie does not promise to stay on for a very long time on the theatres. The music score also is average, but the saddest part is the dressing of the beautiful Priyanka Chopra. This surely explains the true importance of a good designer in the film. On an average, not a very appealing film.

My stars: 2.5/5

Bachna Ae Haseeno: Movie Review

After a long list of flops, box office welcomes this interesting average movie. The entire flick is not at all boring, but, I guess, is majorly centered towards the young generation (the college generation). It might be a good eye opener for that section of males, or even the females, who have made love, a word of mockery.

The story, as we had earlier informed you, revolves around Ranbir Kapoor, Raj, who is a Casanova, and how he plays with the lives of girls at different parts of his life. But then one fine day, he realizes what he has done because he actually falls in true love. But, the girl dumps him for she does not believe in marriage. Feeling what pain of losing someone so precious, he sets out to set things right with those girls whom he had played.

As we had earlier mentioned in the preview blog that Minnisha is supposed to get Ranbir, we would like to clear the err. He is not with her for sure. But if you want to know who it is, go watch the cute movie.

The music score is nice, especially the song Khuda Jaane, which is making quite a lot of fans for itself. Also, Ranbir Kapoor has managed to show his acting skills invariably and looks too cut to resist.

All in all, a good film worth watching once.
